My son, the padawan…

I threw something at the trash earlier and missed, I looked at my son because I knew he was going to make fun of me and he said matter of factly, "Daddy, you should have used the force." I love my son.

Kore New Media Revamp

I’m revamping Kore New Media’s website (www.KoreNewMedia.com ) and expect the new design out by July. I really want to have show notes on each show website, but I don’t think I’ll be able to get LibSyn to let me superimpose the notes on the pages, so I’ll probably have to manually keep a blog on every site with show notes and then the LibSyn blog.

Kore New Media

I’ve got more than 30 podcasts from different shows up, just on Kore New Media, not to mention stuff I’ve done for other shows!

The unwritten rule in podcasting is that if you break episode 5, you’ve got staying power. I think I’m in like Flynn, now!

Maybe it’s wrong to gloat, but I completely revamped KoreNewMedia.com with a great, new look and associated websites with control panels for easy access to feeds and show notes. In addition, I have another great creative outlet for myself and my friends.

I think it’s kinda cool, I have permission to release Nine Inch Nails’s recent album in the Kore Groove podcast! I’m totally psyched! Look for part 1 to show up in April!

Lastly, I was barely putting out 100 megs of content when I first started, but I’m excited to have had to up the amount of space on my LibSyn account to 525 megs a month because of the amount of stuff I’m putting up was more than allowed by the 250 meg limit previously… neato!

I’m working with the (South Florida) famous CinemaDave on a new podcast about movies called Kore Movies. We expect the first episode out around the beginning of April.

I will hopefully have the completely revamped KoreNewMedia.com up and running by Monday 2/4.

TheBatfry.com revamp

I’ve known John Bell for several years and am pleased to be his webmaster and webhost.

I revamped www.TheBatfry.com today over breakfast. It’s a simple design placing the most pertinent information right in front of the visitor.

I’ve been in a ‘minimalistic’ mood lately and have been thinking of a version for my own website at www.WaltSnider.com .

WaltSnider.com & KoreNewMedia.com Revamps

I’ve got a new concept for my own website where I’ll have everything on a single page. I’ll also be redesigning my business cards and all my marketing materials.

I am getting a new computer this week or next and expect to start my new site shortly thereafter… I expect it up by the end of February.

Before I do my own site, I’ll be revamping KoreNewMedia.com first. I’ve got it mostly done, I just need to finalize a few things and it’ll be up.

Two more sites updated + Widescreen Websites

Two revised sites
I updated WaltandTiffany.com and revised the gallery a bit… I took it out of Flash and just made a thumbnail gallery… this minimizes the load time and necessity for Flash. When I get some time, I’ll retheme the gallery to match the rest of the site, but for now it’s fine.

DigitalXaos.com was redone last month, I just never listed it. This is the first revision of the site ever… the original version lasted more than 11 years! The basic reason for the change was as we get older, our tastes change. I previously had a couple scantly-clad young ladies on the site and it’s just not my style any longer. I’ve done porn sites in the past, but that’s intentionally skin… this wasn’t. I like the way it looks now… not that I was ever dissatisfied with the old site.

4:3 vs. 16:9 [learn more ]
In other news, I’m noticing more widescreen displays around the area… I, myself, use 2 19" widescreen displays. When I build my next computer, I’m likely going to end up with a couple 32" screens, maybe even 3. Dell sells new machines with 19" displays, a widescreen upgrade is typically less than $20 (interesting how people are having to pay for LESS screen space, eh?) and a 22" widescreen display is less than $50. People are getting larger displays and they’re moving toward widescreens.

Here’s a question for ya… if you have a team of 19 cross-country runners and grandma, would you expect the 19 to wait for grams all day? Of course not. With all the new displays showing up on desks lately, I’m not designing for old-school 4:3 displays anymore. I’d designing larger pages and more wide than tall. I understand it’s nice to accommodate older technology, but in doing that, you’ll have to design several different versions of the same site, keep them all updated, etc… personally, if someone wants to pay me for multiple different sites, I’m game, but realistically, it’s not going to happen. Would you rather your video games look like Atari or PS3? That’s the difference. I’ve decided to keep up with the times.

WaltSnider.com Redesign
I’m redesigning WaltSnider.com. The site will retain it’s current flavor, but it’s going to be more of a standardized site with a fresh look for the front page. As I add sites to this blog, I’ll add them to my portfolio on the site… I’ve got 11 of my sites (out of more than two dozen that I otherwise run) slated for my portfolio. I will hopefully have it finished by Monday AM.

RPGUplink.com gets a new face

RPGUplink.com has been up since July 2006 providing secure forums for RPG players, and now it has a pretty front door! It very likely won’t more elaborate than the single page but I may update it slightly in the future.
